Starting therapy can feel like a big step, so here are some common questions to help you understand how I work and what to expect.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is a gentle starting point. It’s a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to share what’s brought you to therapy, in whatever way feels comfortable. We’ll also talk about how I work, what you’re hoping to get from sessions, and give you space to ask any questions. There’s no pressure to go into anything in depth before you feel ready.
What if I don’t know where to start?
That’s completely okay — many people feel that way. You don’t need to have a clear story or plan. Whether it’s a feeling, a situation, or just a sense that something isn’t right, we’ll start from wherever you are and figure it out together.
Can I cancel if I need to?
Yes — I just ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a booked session. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are usually charged in full. I completely understand that life happens, so please let me know as soon as you can. Likewise, I’ll always do my best to give you as much notice as possible if I’m unable to attend a booked session, or if I have any upcoming holidays or time off scheduled.
Who do you work with?
I work with individual adults aged 18 and over. I don’t currently offer couples or family therapy or supervision. My clients come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and you’re welcome here exactly as you are.
What kinds of issues do you work with?
Some of the common areas I support people with include:
● Anxiety and low mood
● Stress, burnout, and overwhelm
● Relationship and family difficulties
● Low self-esteem and self-doubt
● Menopause and perimenopause
● Grief and loss
● Trauma and abuse
● Life transitions and identity changes
● Health-related challenges
● Navigating neurodiversity (e.g. ADHD, autism – diagnosed or suspected)
How much does it cost?
Sessions are £50 for both face-to-face and online therapy. I also offer a limited number of reduced-fee spaces for those on a lower income — please feel free to ask about availability. Payment is made by bank transfer, or cash on the day of the session. Full details will be provided when your first session is confirmed.
Do you offer support through employers?
Yes — I offer therapy services for employees either through direct referral or Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs). I also provide discounted rates for employers looking to offer counselling support for their staff. Please get in touch if you’d like to discuss a workplace arrangement.
